那么， “退役”用英语要怎么说？
1.retire
先来看看词典解释：
意思是从某个位置或者职位上退下来，不再从事这项职业。
所以 “retire”是最常用的表示“退役”的词汇。相应的名词就是retirement。
比如林丹退役的时候，外网是这样形容的：
“史上最强林丹宣布退役”
On July 20, 2011, Yao announced his retirementfrom basketball in a press conference in Shanghai.
2011年7月20日，姚明在上海举行的新闻发布会上宣布退役。
2. hang up (one's) boots
作为一个俚语，其实这个短语比“retire”更强调“运动员退役”的意思，尤其是足球。
科林斯词典就这样解释：
就是我们常说的”挂靴“，把靴子挂起来，再也不穿了，意思就是退役。
I think you know as a player when it's time to hang up your boots.
我想作为一名球员，你知道什么时候该退役了。

forehand
正手
She has a strong forehand.
她正手击球强劲有力。
backhand
反手
He put a lot more topspin on his backhand.
他在反手打出了更多上旋。
match point
赛点
He saw his chance and, with another lightning forehand, reached match point.
他看准时机，以一记闪电般的正手击球拿到了赛点。
